Initially, JETRO's main mission was to promote the export of Japanese products, but in the 21st century, its core focus shifted to attracting foreign direct investment into Japan and helping small and medium-sized Japanese companies maximize their global export potential. JETRO has 74 overseas offices around the world, covering 54 countries, and 48 regional offices in Japan. It is committed to providing market intelligence, business matching and support services to promote international trade and investment.
