The Department of Trade, Industry and Competition (the dtic) was established following the merger of the Department of Trade and Industry and the Economic Development Department. It is responsible for promoting industrial development, investment, competitiveness, and trade in South Africa. The dtic's mission includes fostering economic growth, improving trade and investment links, and ensuring the alignment of economic policies with the national development objectives.
