The FBI Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) Directorate was established in 2006 to centralize and coordinate efforts to prevent, investigate, and respond to WMD threats. The Directorate focuses on countermeasures and preparedness, investigative operations, and intelligence analysis to protect the United States from chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear threats. It works closely with domestic and international partners, leveraging intelligence and outreach to mitigate WMD risks and ensure national security.
