Established in 1954, Markfed is one of Asia’s largest marketing cooperatives. The organization supports farmers in Punjab by providing agricultural inputs like fertilizers and seeds, and by facilitating the marketing and processing of their produce. Markfed operates numerous processing and trading units, and markets a wide range of consumer products under the brand name 'Sohna'. The cooperative also engages in contract farming, foodgrain procurement, and runs its own retail chains.
