The Forest College and Research Institute (FC & RI) is located in Mettupalayam, near the Jakanari Reserved Forest, approximately 40 km north of Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) main campus in Coimbatore. It is spread over a 200-hectare reserve forest area and is dedicated to forestry education, research, and extension. Established as a department in 1973 and elevated to a college in 1990, FCRI focuses on producing skilled forestry professionals and conducting significant research in various aspects of forestry.
