Established in 2000 by Presidential Decree No. 90, the National Council for Women (NCW) is Egypt's sole independent national women's machinery, affiliated with the President of the Republic. The council is dedicated to enhancing the status of women in Egyptian society, ensuring equality in political, economic, social, and cultural rights. In 2018, Law No. 30/2018 was enacted to institutionalize NCW's work, aligning with constitutional articles that promote gender equality and mandate the elimination of all forms of discrimination.
