European Currants is a promotional campaign financed by the European Union and Greece, focusing on the high-quality Corinthian Currants (Black Currants from Corinth). These currants are a unique variety of small, seedless grapes known for their fine skin, juiciness, and intense flavor. The Agricultural Cooperatives Union of Aeghion (P.E.S. Union), established in 1935, is a major participant in this campaign, representing about 6,000 growers. P.E.S. Union processes and exports around 60% of the total annual production of currants, primarily to the EU, the USA, and other international markets. The product range includes VOSTIZZA P.D.O. currants, sultanas, extra virgin olive oil, and citrus fruits.
