The California Sustainable Winegrowing Alliance (CSWA), established in 2003, is a San Francisco-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization created by the Wine Institute and the California Association of Winegrape Growers. CSWA promotes the adoption of sustainable winegrowing practices through education, outreach, certification, and partnerships. It administers the Certified California Sustainable Winegrowing program, a globally recognized third-party certification for vineyards, wineries, and wines, aiming to enhance environmental stewardship, social equity, and economic viability within the California wine industry.
