The Austrian Centre of Industrial Biotechnology (acib GmbH) is an international research institution specializing in industrial biotechnology. Founded in 2010, acib develops sustainable, environmentally friendly, and economically advanced processes for the biotech, pharmaceutical, and chemical industries, modeling its methods on natural processes. The center operates research facilities in Graz, Linz, Innsbruck, Tulln, and Vienna, with administrative headquarters in Graz. acib focuses on areas such as biocatalysis, enzyme technologies, protein engineering, microbial biotechnology, cell line development, bioinformatics, bioprocess technologies, and bioeconomy. It is a COMET Centre (K2) within the COMET – Competence Centers for Excellent Technologies program, funded by the Austrian government and managed by the Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG).
