Established in 1928, the Zabolotny Institute of Microbiology and Virology (IMV) is Ukraine's premier research institution dedicated to microbiology, virology, and microbial biotechnology. The institute conducts fundamental research in the systematics, physiology, biochemistry, genetics, and ecology of various bacteria, microscopic fungi, and viruses. Additionally, IMV develops biotechnological preparations and processes based on microorganisms for applications in agriculture, industry, medicine, veterinary science, and environmental protection.
