Van Dhan Vikas Kendras (VDVKs) are an initiative launched by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India, under the Pradhan Mantri Van Dhan Yojana (PMVDY). The scheme aims to improve the livelihood of tribal communities by promoting value addition and marketing of forest-based products. VDVKs are designed to transform tribal gatherers into entrepreneurs by providing them with necessary infrastructure, training, and market linkages. The initiative supports the establishment of 50, 000 VDVKs across India, benefiting around 10 lakh tribal entrepreneurs. These centers focus on sustainable harvesting and processing of non-timber forest products (NTFPs) to enhance income and socio-economic status of tribal communities.
