The National Urban Livelihoods Mission (NULM) aims to reduce poverty and vulnerability among urban poor households by providing gainful self-employment and skilled wage employment opportunities. Launched on September 23, 2013, NULM focuses on organizing the urban poor into strong grassroots level institutions, creating opportunities for skill development, and facilitating access to credit for setting up self-employment ventures. The mission also addresses the needs of urban street vendors and provides shelters with essential services for the urban homeless.
