The Directorate of Industries operates under the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India. DPIIT is responsible for the formulation and implementation of promotional and developmental measures for the growth of the industrial sector in India, including foreign direct investment (FDI) policies, industrial infrastructure, and the administration of Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs).
