Established in 1983 under the Sikkim Co-operative Societies Act of 1978, SIMFED serves as the apex marketing federation in Sikkim. It facilitates the wholesale supply of consumer goods to cooperative societies and manages the bulk marketing of surplus agricultural and horticultural produce, including key cash crops. SIMFED also supplies uniforms, textbooks, furniture, and office equipment to government departments through its branch outlets across the state. Additionally, it promotes organic produce through initiatives like the 'Sikkim’s Organic' stall in Gangtok and markets seasonal cut-flowers such as Cymbidium orchids and Lilium to major cities.
