The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) was established by the Government of India under the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority Act, passed in December 1985 and effective from February 1986. APEDA is responsible for promoting the export of agricultural and processed food products from India. It supports exporters in various ways, including registration, setting standards, ensuring quality, improving packaging and marketing, and providing training. APEDA also collects and publishes relevant statistics and serves as the secretariat for the National Accreditation Board under the National Programme for Organic Production (NPOP).
