Kelompok Salterai is a community group based in Ohoitel, Tual, Maluku, focused on the conservation and sustainable farming of sea cucumbers (teripang). Established in 2018, the group engages in sea cucumber cultivation to restore declining populations in the Kei Islands. Supported by organizations like Pertamina, the Fisheries Department of Tual, and Politeknik Perikanan Negeri Tual, Kelompok Salterai employs local wisdom (SASI) and modern hatchery techniques to breed and farm sea cucumbers. Their activities aim to improve the local economy, protect marine biodiversity, and contribute to sustainable food resources through 'sea ranching' and pen-culture methods.
