The Honam National Institute of Biological Resources (HNIBR) is a public research institute under the Ministry of Environment, established in August 2020. The institute is dedicated to the early securing of national bio-sovereignty, preservation of biodiversity, and sustainable use of bioresources from islands and coastal areas. HNIBR engages in various research and educational activities, including the collection, preservation, and management of biological specimens, and the development of technologies for the practical use and industrialization of bioresources.
