Founded in 2018 by a team of graduate students from Saint Mary’s University, Ashored Innovations develops sustainability-enabling technologies for the commercial fishing industry. Their flagship product, the Modular Ocean Based Instrument (MOBI), is a rope-on-command (ROC) system designed to minimize marine mammal entanglements and reduce ghost gear by keeping ropes out of the water column until retrieval. Complementing MOBI is ATLAS, a software platform that tracks and monitors the location of underwater assets, enhancing traceability and sustainability in fixed-trap fisheries such as crab and lobster.
