GIATPI was established on December 8, 1974, initially as GKPI (Gabungan Industri Karung Plastik Indonesia), and later renamed GIATPI in 1985. The organization represents over 50 member companies that produce a range of woven plastic products, including woven bags, jumbo bags, tarpaulins, cement bags, and mesh bags. These products are essential to sectors such as agriculture, chemicals, cement, mining, and food. GIATPI supports the growth of Indonesia's downstream plastic industry and contributes to the national economy through local and international trade.
